Do you believe in signs?
The song “Signs” by Tesla was one of my favorites back in the day. They were referring to literal signs, though, while I am more contemplative of the figurative ones. I am trying to remember an instance in my life where I felt I had been given a sign. I can’t think of anything right offhand, though I’m sure I have experienced such an occasion.
The question is – when such instances occur, is it mere coincidence, or truly a strategically placed divine intervention in one’s life? I think we definitely construe things as signs that are mere happenstance, but does this mean that every “answer to prayer” is happenstance? Or is it possible that after we pray a little prayer, a supreme being drops the answer on our head?
I will soon be faced with a big decision, and I am truly torn about which path to choose. I have asked for divine intervention. I would like to have the answer dropped on my head, but I almost feel like that’s too easy. I believe in the power of prayer, but I also believe that humans were given brains and reasoning power on purpose. We can certainly ask for a “sign,” but we can also weigh the pros and cons and exercise our intellectual gifts and intuition.
This blog has brought me no closer to answer. I don’t know that a definitive answer is ours to truly possess in this lifetime. At this point, I would settle for a happenstance incident that I could misconstrue. I need some sort of nudge. The answer does not have to fall on my head, but maybe it could fall somewhere in my immediate vicinity. What do you think, folks? Are there instances where there is no one right answer? Is the answer sometimes right in front of us, yet we fail to notice?
