A Little MS with a Little MSW

A Mid-Life Slant on Disability and Education

Spring has Sprung!

April is a great month. I don’t suffer from pollen allergy, so yeah – great month! Flowers are blooming, the sun is shining, I’m running outside again! I can feel my mood lifting with each turn of the calendar page. Seasonal Affective Disorder is LEGIT. Don’t ever let anybody tell you any different!

I’ve officially received four rejections of the five PhD programs I applied to. I guess my application was so laughable to the fifth school that they just blew me off altogether! It’s all good, though. You (we) gotta shrug off the rejections and keep on moving, right? Onward and upward…

Speaking of laughable…I completed an online Pilates certification recently. I am in no way good enough to teach, but the fitness program I became involved in this past year (E2M) really ignited a love of this exercise method for me! If you have never tried Pilates, I highly recommend you do so. Also, E2M is not paying me to promote them, but it is a great program with engaging coaches. The only downside is a Facebook profile is required to access the workouts.

I have my first dry needling appointment today and I really hope it helps with my shoulder pain. I could use a little relief! I also did an acupuncture consult recently. That was my first foray into Eastern medicine. I tend to lean Western style, but as long as those needles help, I don’t care which direction they come from!

About Me

I have Clinically Isolated Syndrome. It’s like MS without the ‘multiple’ part. My brain has one sclerosis. Sclerosi? Anyway, it’s a doozy. I am also a therapist working toward independent clinical social work licensure. I have a husband, two adult children, and two poodles. I love to read, write, and exercise. I strive to eat something green and to make someone smile every day!
