I started this blog a little over a year ago. This is a huge milestone for me as I don’t think I have ever managed to write on a somewhat-consistent basis for this length of time before. I have not gained a huge following, but I am happy with the little tribe I have collected, and I hope I have provided at least some mild entertainment for each of you at one point or another. I aim to please.
It’s neat for me to look back at where I was this time last year and compare it to where I am today. Last summer, I was a jobless PhD-hopeful and runner wannabe. This summer, I am an employed PhD reject and runner-ish. 🙂
I have been counseling folks for four months now and am not half bad at it, you guys! People enjoy talking to me, and I enjoy listening. I think it’s so easy for us to get hung up on all the things we are NOT. I am not a published author, but I write. That makes me a writer. I am not fast, long-distance runner, but I run. That makes me a runner. I am not a PhD candidate, but I am an MSW graduate. That makes me educated.
Today, I challenge you to celebrate your strengths, your gains, your wins. Only glance back briefly, to look at how far you have come. Where were you this time last year and where would you like to be this time next year? Reflect and Aspire.
